The teaching laboratories are managed by Mrs Hayley Monk, the Senior Technical Operations Manager, with a Technical Manager assigned to each suite of labs.
Stopford Building – undergraduate teaching labs

First floor labs
The practical classes that run in these labs are largely medical biosciences:
- physiology
- pharmacology
- neuroscience
and OSCE skills:
- haematology
- resuscitation
- drug dilution
- blood pressure and pulse
- ECG
- EMG
- EOG
- effects of drugs
- vision
Human physiology/pharmacology practical classes often require student volunteers to act as test subjects, from whom written consent is obtained using either Band 1 or Band 2 consent forms (as appropriate).
Second floor labs
The practical classes that run in these labs are largely biosciences and pharmacy classes:
- biochemistry
- molecular biology
- microbiology
- cell biology
- developmental biology
- zoology plant sciences
- genetics
- pharmacy
Stopford Building – postgraduate teaching labs
Technical Manager – Mrs Audrey Bibby
The following disciplines are covered:
- Microbiology and virology
- Pharmacy dispensing and clinical skills
- CSLC and pre-medic
Anatomy / surgical teaching (dissecting room and mortuary)
Technical Manager – Mr Stephen Lindsay-Smith
The dissecting room is used exclusively for teaching human anatomy.
It's a restricted access area licenced by the Human Tissue Authority (HTA) and is closely monitored by CCTV cameras.
All students using the dissecting room must sign a Code of Conduct form.
